Dancing in the sea

During the final rituals on the main day of the important “Ngarrag” or “Mardayin” ceremony in Numbulwar the two moiety groups dance in the sea; they immerse themselves and wash off their body paint, before returning to the ceremonial ground where the men continue dancing.
