The market at Gundulićeva Poljana, with the statue of Ivan Gundulić, in the old town of Dubrovnik. Dživo Franov Gundulić (1589 – 1638), better known today as Ivan Gundulić, was the most prominent Baroque poet from the Republic of Ragusa (now Dubrovnik). He is regarded as the Croatian national poet, and the statue dates from 1853.
