Bhaktapur, Nepal’s best-preserved old city
Dattatreya Temple, built by King Yaksha Malla in the year 1427 CE in Bhaktapur. Lord Dattatreya is regarded as Lord Vishnu, despite being a merged form of Tridev. At the entrance are two large sculptures of the Jaiput wrestlers, Jaimala and Pata, and on a column in front is a gilded metal statue of Garuda, the bird-like divinity.
