Previous Aboriginal Ceremonies from the Top End
During the final rituals on the main day of the important "Ngarrag" or "Mardayin" ceremony in Numbulwar, an Aboriginal community on the western Gulf of Carpentaria, the two moiety groups dance in the sea; they immerse themselves and wash off their body paint, before returning to the ceremonial ground where the men continue dancing.
