Previous Aboriginal Initiation Ceremonies from the Top End of Australia
While men sing and clap boomerangs together young men dance a short fast stepping dance, representing the movements of the frilled lizard during a "Mandiwa" initiation ceremony in Barunga community, 80 km from Katherine. They dance in small groups, consisting of tribal brothers, in front of the initiates.
