PreviousDjarragun College Junior Dancers, Australia
Young boys and girls from Djarragun College, a school for indigenous students near Cairns, Far North Queensland, perform dances from Murray Island in the Torres Strait, accompanied by singing and drumming during the awards ceremonies at the school. Other children and mothers as well walk between the dancers, sprinkling talcum powder on them as a sign of appreciation. Others jump in between the dancers and do what seems like a mocking dance, but this also is a sign of encouragement. It is all good fun with the audience joining in.
