 | Djarragun College Junior Girls Dancers Young girls from Djarragun College, a school for indigenous students near Cairns, Far North Queensland, perform dances from Murray Island in the Torres Strait, accompanied by singing and drumming during the awards ceremonies at the school. The girls, in long dresses with a skirt of pandanus leaves, march in and sing and dance; toward the end a girl runs up and does what seems like a mocking dance; this, however, is a way to show her appreciation and encouragement. | |
