Emirate of Afghanistan 1880

After the Anglo-Aghan wars of 1839-42 and 1878-80 the British gave up trying to subdue the country and subsidised Abdur Rahman (1880-1901), who managed to unite Afghanistan and make it a buffer between the British and the Persian and Russian empires. Emir Abdur Rahman established a strong government in Kabul. He adopted a flag in his dynastic colour, black.
