Roger Jose's house

The “Tank house”, made from rain water tanks, that had belonged to Roger Jose, one of the “Hermits of Borroloola”; he was the first white man to legally marry an Aboriginal woman and was one of the many colourful characters of the old Borroloola. He died on 7 October 1963 and his house blew away during a cyclone in early 1984.
