Cairns, tropical city in Far North Queensland

View to The Pier

View to The Pier building on Trinity Bay from the Esplanade in Cairns. The beach is an artificial one: when the pier was built in the 1920s, currents changed and where there had been a beach was changed into mangrove mudflats. This small beach is now regularly maintained. It is popular with pelicans.
