Aboriginal Initiation Ceremonies from Northern Australia

Next

Young men (including boys already initiated) are painted up and cotton wool stuck to their bodies in patterns associated with their clan affiliations, getting ready to dance that night for young initiates in the Marndiwala initiation ceremony. Whereas in the past vegetable down, prepared from certain plants was used, here cotton wool from disposable nappies are used, stuck on with sugar water. The older men sing, accompanied by boomerang clapping.
