Plaza del Himno Nacional, where the Cuban national anthem, “La Bayamesa”, was sung for the first time in 1868, with Iglesia Parroquial Mayor de San Salvador, first built in Bayamo around 1516; the current building dates from 1740 but was devastated in a fire in 1869; most of the present church dates from 1919.
