The Eastern Karpas Peninsula

Agios Thyrsos Orthodox church

Agios Thyrsos, also known as Agios Therisos, a Greek Orthodox church east of Yialousa/Yeni Erenköy on the north coast of the Karpas peninsula, west of Dipkarpaz. It was plundered during the Cyprus Crisis, and the cemetery was destroyed. This small church, on the seashore, is from the 16th or 17th century. It takes its name from St. Thyrsos, Bishop of Karpasia in the early Byzantine Period.
