Kemal Atatürk bust, Büyükkonuk

A bust of Kemal Atatürk, with his pronouncement “Ne mutlu Türküm diyene” (How happy is the one who says I am a Turk), flanked by the Turkish and North Cyprus flags, at Atatürk Street in front of the mosque, in Büyükkonuk (Komi Kebir). Before 1974, Komi Kebir was inhabited both by Greek- and Turkish Cypriots, with Greek Cypriots constituting the majority.
