Ancient Kourion

Episcopal basilica, Kourion

The Episcopal Basilica of Kourion, an important ancient city-state on the south-western coast of Cyprus, one of the most important Early Christian monuments of the island. Its construction dates to just after the beginning of the 5th century CE on the ruins of important Roman buildings. The monument was destroyed during the second Arab raid around 654 CE. It was finally abandoned in the late 7th or early 8th century.
