Gazimağusa (Famagusta), a walled city on the east coast

Saint George of the Latins Church

The Saint George of the Latins Church, one of the most beautiful and perfect examples of the early Gothic style, in the northern part of the old city. It dates from the late 13th or early 14th century, using material removed from the Salamis ruins. It may have been built at a time when the Lusignans had not yet completed the city walls of Famagusta.
