Empire of Ethiopia, 1897

Empire of Ethiopia, 1897

On 6 October 1897, the original Ethiopian flag was changed, as the pennants were transformed into rectangles. The colours were interpreted as having a connection to the Holy Trinity and the three main provinces and stood for: red - power and faith of the nation, yellow - natural wealth and the Christian church and green - the country’s fertile land and hope.
