A Monastery Festival on Lake Tana

Beating drum and sistrum

Priests singing and dancing, beating a “kabaro” drum and using “tsinatseil”, the sistrum, a rattle, which has small metal disks loosely suspended on rods, at a celebration of the Feast of the Virgin Mary in Ura Kidane Mihret monastery, Zege, at Lake Tana near Bahir Dar.
