Michelangelo's David

David, a masterpiece by Renaissance sculptor Michelangelo Buonarotti was created between 1501 and 1504. It depicts David before the battle with Goliath, carrying the slingshot over his shoulder. It is a 5.17-metre marble statue, originally placed outside the Palazzo della Signoria in Florence and moved to the Accademia Gallery in 1873, where it is today.
