Palazzo Ducale roof, Venice

The magnificent roof of the Doges' Palace (Palazzo Ducale) in Venice; the palace was the residence of the doges, the rulers of the once independent Republic of Venice. Its present form dates from 1340, after having been built and rebuilt many times.
