Pompeii

Forum of Pompeii

The Forum of Pompeii with Mount Vesuvius, that destroyed it in 79 CE, still looming in the background. A Roman Forum is an open public space in the middle of a Roman city. When Pompeii was first founded, the Forum was a small market in the centre of the town, at the juncture of two important routes that linked it to Naples, Nola, and Stabiae.
