Eternal Rome, Italy’s capital

Piazza del Popolo

View from Pincio Hill over the Piazza del Popolo, a semicircular city square designed in the early 19th century by Valadier. An Egyptian obelisk of Ramesses II from Heliopolis stands in the centre of the Piazza. The dome of St Peter's basilica is in the background.
