Japanese Resident General, 1906

Japanese Resident General, 1906

In 1905 Japan had declared Korea a Protectorate of the Japanese Empire and the following year a Japanese Resident General Office was set up. A light blue Resident General flag, with the “Hinomaru”, the Japanese flag, in the canton, was adopted on February 14th 1906. The light-blue colour stood for “justice, fairness and philanthropy”.
