Suwon Hwaseong Palace, Gyeonggi Province

Sinpungmun, the main gate

Sinpungmun, the main gate of Hwaseong Haenggung, the palace outside of Seoul where the king used to stay when he traveled, during wars, or when he visited tombs. King Jeongjo, after moving the tomb of his father Sadoseja to Hyeonryungwon, built the new Suwon city, and constructed the city fortress in the late 1790s.
