The statue in Jeoldusan (“beheading hill”) of Seung-Hoon Lee, who took the name Peter and, in 1784, was the first Korean baptised as a Catholic. He was one of the leading figures of the establishment of the Korean Catholic Church but was arrested and executed for this on 8 April 1801 during the Shinyou Persecution.
