Prizren, Kosovo's most Oriental City

Our Lady of Ljevish church

One of the oldest standing structures in Prizren, the Our Lady of Ljevish (Bogorodica Ljeviška) Church dating from around 1307. Built originally as a Roman Catholic Church and one of the primary churches of the Catholics of the region, Levishka was later converted to an Eastern Orthodox Church. It was severely damaged during the ethnic riots of 17 March 2004 and was still guarded by police in 2009.
