Ciuflea Monastery, Chișinău

St. Theodor Tiron Convent (Catedrala episcopală Sf. Teodor) a Moldovan Orthodox monastery, dedicated to Saint Theodore of Amasea. Also called Ciuflea Monastery (Mănăstirea Ciuflea), it was financed by Anastasie Ciufli (1801 - 1870) to respect the last will of his brother Teodor Ciufli (1796 - 1854). They were Aromanian merchants who emigrated from Macedonia to Bessarabia in 1821. The church was consecrated on June 6, 1858. It was closed by the Soviets in 1962, but became a monastery in 2002.
