Chingünjav memorial

School children pose in front of a memorial statue, erected in 2010, to honour Marshal Chingünjav, one of the two major leaders of the 1755 - 1756 rebellion in Outer Mongolia. Although his rebellion failed, he is nowadays often hailed as a fighter for Mongolia's independence from the Qing (Manchu), who were ruling China at that time. In the background is Mörön Town Hall.
