Royal Arms of King Mahendra, 1955

The Royal Arms of the Shah dynasty for King Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, who ruled from 1955 until his death in 1972, displays his initials, MBBSD. Two Royal Standards flank this, the flagpoles ending in tridents and above it two crossed “Kukris”, the knives associated with the Gurkhas. At the top is the royal headdress. At the bottom is a depiction of the Himalaya mountains and a scroll with a motto in Sanskrit.
