Kingdom of Norway, 1821 and 1899

Norway, 1821

In 1821, in a personal union with Sweden, Norway adopted a unique merchant flag of its own, adding a blue cross inside the white cross on a red field. This flag was used until 1844 and re-adopted in 1899. It has remained the Norwegian national flag ever since.
