Province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 2010

Province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 2010

In 2010 the North-West Frontier Province was renamed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, “Land of Pashtuns” in the Pashto language, as the province was the only one not named after the dominant population. The name change was, however, largely opposed by non-Pashtuns. Its flag is dark green, with, in white, an image of the Jamrud Fort, mountains, a dove and the crescent and star, surrounded by a wreath. At the bottom was a scroll with, in Urdu, “Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa”.
