The uMcwasho Ceremony

Girls marching

Groups of young girls march from the traditional Royal Kraal in Lobamba to Somhlolo Stadium for the dance celebrating the end of their “uMcwasho” period; for a year the girls have been wearing woollen tassels, the uniform of a girl's age group. That morning those tassels were ritually burnt and they are now going to dance in a national celebration in front of the King.
