Edirne, the second major capital of the Ottomans

Interior, Eski Camii

The interior of the early 15th-century Ottoman Eski Camii (Old Mosque). A distinguishing feature is the bold Arabic calligraphy on its walls. In the centre, flanking the Minbar, the pulpit from where the imam delivers the Friday sermon, is “Allah” and at right “Abu Bakr”, who was a companion and a father-in-law of the prophet Muhammad.
