Along the road south of Kununurra

Boab or Baobab tree

A Boab or Baobab tree, between Kununurra and Warnum (Turkey Creek), typical of the northern part of Western Australia. It also occurs in southern Africa and Madagascar. According to Aboriginal legend, the tree misbehaved and was therefore stuck in the ground upside-down, with its roots in the air.
