Kingdom of Afghanistan 1930

A year after Nadir Shah had come to power, the flag underwent a change in its emblem: the “mihrab”, flanked by two flags and ensconced in two sheaves of wheat, now occupied almost the full width of the central stripe. The date appearing underneath the mihrab is the year Nadir's dynasty acceded to the throne (1348 = 1929). The design was confirmed by the Constitution of 31 October 1931. A variant design has the whole emblem placed on the central stripe only.
