Tree of Knowledg, Barcaldine

Barcaldine's Tree of Knowledge monument, erected around the tree, under which the strikers met during the shearer's strike of 1891. It stood outside the railway station, but in 2006, someone poisoned the tree, which died. Barcaldine played a significant role in the Australian labour movement and the birth of the Australian Labor Party.
