Kolossi Castle

Kolossi Castle, Kolossi

The entrance to Kolossi Castle, a former Crusader stronghold, a fortified tower just south of Kolossi village. It dates from 1454 and was probably built over a stronghold, possibly built in 1210 by the Frankish military, when this was given by the King of the Kingdom of Cyprus, Hugh I, to the Knights of the Order of St John of Jerusalem (Hospitallers).
