Kolossi Castle

Coats of Arms, Kolossi Castle

The Coats of Arms of the Lusignans of Cyprus, as depicted on an escutcheon on the front wall of Kolossi Castle. The emblem of Jerusalem, the old Lusignan coat of arms, the emblem of Cyprus and that of Armenia are represented, making up a unity since as of 1393 the king of Cyprus was also king of Jerusalem and Armenia. On either side are the coat-of-arms of the two Grand Masters of the order of St. John of Jerusalem and at the bottom is the coat-of-arms of Louis de Magnac, the likely founder of the castle.
