At Kourion Beach

Tomb, Chapel of Agios Ermogenis

The tomb of the Saint, in the chapel, 100 metres from Kourion Beach, dedicated to Agios Ermogenis, a Holy man from the island of Samos, beheaded on the island of Samos, in the 4th century CE because he refused to renounce his faith. His cask was washed up on the beach of Episkopi and a chapel built here to house his tomb. It is a place of pilgrimage, and on 5 October, the Saint is celebrated with a large festival around the church.
