Portugal, 1910

Portugal, 1910

The green and red flag of Portugal has been in use since a revolution overthrew the monarchy on 5 October 1910 and Portugal became a republic. The coat of arms consists of an armillary sphere charged with the traditional Portuguese shield. This flag was the only one used in Portugal's colonies (later “Overseas Provinces”), including Portuguese Timor.
