The historical region of Cappadocia

Cave dwellings, Ortahisar

Cave dwellings in Ortahisar, Cappadocia, about 6 kilometres from Ürgüp in Göreme National Park. Bronze Age homes were carved into valley walls by troglodytes (cave dwellers) and later used as refuges by early Christians.
